The day has finally arrived. Selection Sunday for the 2012 NCAA Tournament is here, but before the official selection committee announces the actual bids and seeding, let's take a look at the projections for some of the local schools from Chris Dobbertean of SB Nation and Blogging The Bracket.
The Georgetown Hoyas, at one time projected to be a No. 3 seed, have dropped to a No. 4 seed. CAA Tournament champion VCU is slotted as a No. 11 seed, as are the Virginia Cavaliers of the ACC. Loyola, winners of the MAAC Tournament, earn a No. 14 seed.
Dobbertean is one of the few bracketologists who still has the Drexel Dragons, the regular season CAA champion, in the tournament. They make his "Last Four In" category.
Full bracket projections below:
Teams that have clinched automatic bids appear in all caps.

The Georgetown Hoyas didn't make it quite as far into the Big East Tournament as they may have hoped, they lost to the Cincinnati Bearcats in double overtime on Thursday. But the new edition of 2012 Bracketology from the the guys at SB Nation doesn't punish them for that lost, and they still hold a No. 3 seed in the tournament. It's hard to punish a team for losing a game like that, so that is understandable.
As for VCU, they keep moving up even though they haven't played a game since last weekend. They are now up to a No. 10 seed.
Here is the rest of the bracketology.

SB nation is now in the business of releasing a new Bracketology every day during the NCAA Conference tournaments, and as you may expect, there are a lot of permutations based on the dozens of games each day. Here is their new 2012 Bracketology, which features a slight change for one of our local teams.
Despite not playing for the last few days, VCU moves up to a No. 11 seed in the Big Dance. For those of you paying attention, that is the same seed they had last year when they ran to the NCAA Tournament. As for Georgetown, they are still in the tournament as a No. 3 seed.
Here is the complete bracketology.

The Major Conference tournaments are still under way, so we still don't know exactly what the NCAA Tournament field will look like, but hey, our guess is as good as anybody's. SB Nation just came out with their latest edition of their 2012 Bracketology, and they still have Georgetown as a No. 3 seed in the tournament.
One interesting tidbit however is that they are projected to face a local team in the first round in No. 14 seed Loyola Md. Loyola is in the tournament for the first time in what feels like an eternity, and they are playing hard behind former Terps assistant Jimmy Patsos, so who knows what could happen in the first round.
Here is the complete bracketology.

The guys over at SB Nation have come out with a new Bracketology for the 2012 NCAA tournament that is unique to Tuesday morning, as things are sure to change before the end of the day.
As you can see, Georgetown is still given a No. 3 seed, although that could change considerably with their performance in the Big East tournament this week. The Hoyas are matched up against 14th-seeded Loyola (Md.), winners of the MAAC Tournament, who triumphed 48-44 over Fairfield Monday night to earn an automatic bid to the Big Dance.
VCU just made it into the tournament last night as an automatic qualifier after winning the CAA, and SB Nation has them in the Tournament as a No. 12 seed. If this holds, I guarantee they would be a very popular pick in those ever-dangerous 5/12 match-ups.
The University of Virginia has a tough match-up against Memphis in an 8/9 game. But that's much better than being left off the bubble.
Here is a look at the full bracket.
