The WNBA draft was held on Monday. The Washington Mystics added four players, including two first-round picks in the annual event.
The WNBA draft was held on Monday. The Washington Mystics added four players, including two first-round picks in the annual event. Washington selected Notre Dame's Natalie Novosel and LSU LaSondra Barrett with the eighth and tenth picks in the draft's first round.
Novosel, a 5'11" guard, averaged more than 15 points and four rebounds per game in her senior year with the Fighting Irish. She was part of a team that made it all the way to the national championship game in the 2012 NCAA Women's tournament.
Barrett led the Tigers with an average of more than 12 points and seven rebounds per game last season. Standing 6'2", she can play all five positions. LSU lost to Penn State in the second round of the tournament.
Washington picked Anjale Barrett and Briana Gilbreath in the third round of the draft. Barrett is a Maryland product, part of a Terps team that made it all the way to the Elite Eight this season. Gilbreath is a 6'1" guard that led an injury-riddle USC team last year.
