Wizards Vs. Heat: Washington Boasts Eight-Point Halftime Lead Over Miami

Stay connected for news and updates

Oddly enough, behind a combined 25 points from guard John Wall and swingman Cartier Martin, the 16-win Washington Wizards carry a 45-37 halftime lead over the Miami Heat.

Washington, which hasn’t won three consecutive games all season, managed to get off to a strong start during the first quarter, building an eight-point lead. During the second quarter, the teams were knotted at 22 apiece.

Wall has done a little bit of everything for the Wizards, who are looking to prevent Miami from winning what would be its sixth game in a row. The second-year guard has 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting in addition to four rebounds and three assists. Collectively, the Wizards haven’t all been on target from the field, shooting just 39.5 percent from the field, but they played rather well defensively, holding the Heat to under 40 percent shooting, as well, at 37 percent.
