The resurrection of the Brazilian basketball squad for the 2012 Olympic Games in London will feature a player of local interest, as Washington Wizards forward Nene will play on the squad.
As Michael Lee of the Washington Post first reported in the Washington Post Friday afternoon, Nene received word Thursday from Brazil head coach Rueben Magnano announced that Nene was one of the 15 players that is a finalist for the 12-man roster in London.
There were three other NBA players also named to the roster: Indiana Pacers guard Leandro Barbosa, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Anderson Varejao, and San Antonio Spurs forward Tiago Splitter.
In 39 games with the Wizards in 2011-2012, Nene averaged 13.7 points per game while pulling down 7.5 rebounds per game.
