The top-seeded Loyola (Md.) Greyhounds advanced to the Final Four of the 2012 Men's NCAA Lacrosse Tournament after defeating the Denver Pioneers by a final score of 10-9 in a thrilling match on Saturday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md.
The Pioneers found themselves down four three goals going into the fourth quarter, but Loyola's Davis Butts scored a goal early in the final quarter, giving the Greyhounds a four-goal cushion.
But the Pioneers mounted a furious comeback as they scored two quick goals in a little over a minute's time and then with less than three minutes to go in the match, Denver scored again to cut the Loyola lead to one.
But that's as close as they would get as the Greyhounds advance to the Final Four and will face the winner of Sunday's match between Virginia and Notre Dame.
