Andy Roddick was upset in the first round of the 2012 French Open while Venus Williams advanced.

American tennis player Andy Roddick's stay in France for the 2012 French Open did not last long, as he was upset by frenchman Nicolas Mahut in the first round of the tournament.

Roddick fell 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 at Rowland Garros Sunday afternoon and saw his record in 2012 drop to 7-10, including an 0-4 record on clay courts. It was the first time Roddick bowed out in the first round of a Grand Slam since 2007.

On the women's side, Venus Williams was able to overcome an agressive start by her opponent to take down Argentina's Paula Ormaechea 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. Williams was able to get a huge advantage in winners, blowing out the 19-year-old 41-16 in that department. This was the first Grand Slam match for Williams since announcing her diagnosis with an autoimmune disorder back in August of 2011.
