Chris Pontius and Hamdi Salihi scored second-half goals as D.C. United got back on the winning track with a 2-0 win over Toronto FC at BMO Field.

Pontius' winner, in the 55th minute, came on a beautiful left-footed shot from about 20 yards away after he had taken a long through pass from Brandon McDonald. Toronto goaltender Milos Kokic was left with no chance as the ball flew into the top right corner of his net.

Salihi secured the three points in the 75th minute after Toronto had only managed to half-clear a United corner kick. McDonald headed the ball back into the mixer and Salili hit it past Kokic on a first-time volley on his right foot.
