Mets Vs. Nationals: Washington Plays Host To Surprising Mets

The Nationals will look to hold on to first as the third-place Mets are within striking distance.

Despite, essentially, being dead even with the Miami Marlins (31-23) for first place in the National League East, the Washington Nationals sit percentage points ahead with a 30-23 record. They'll look to preserve/extend that lead as they host a three-game series against the New York Mets (31-24), who are only one-half game behind in third.

Jordan Zimmermann (3-5, 2.60 ERA) will make the start for the Nationals, while Chris Young will take the mound for the first time since last May for the Mets. Young is 3-1 with a 2.63 ERA in six career starts against Washington. Zimmermann has yet to win a start at home this year, but that's slightly misleading as he's sporting a 3.34 ERA in five starts. The Mets have won seven of their last 10, but they've dropped six of their last seven against the Nationals.

The game is scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m., and it will be televised on MASN2.
