Stay connected for news and updates

After I'll Have Another was pulled with an injury and forced into retirement, the 2012 Belmont Stakes seemed open for the taking. Dullahan would emerge as the favorite, but would not be named the victor as that honor went to Union Rags in a thrilling race that went down to the wire.

Staying in the middle of the pack for most of the race, Union Rags made his move with 300 yards remaining in the race to overtake Paynter, who led from the outset.

Staying along the inside railing, Union Rags was able to pass Paynter on the inside to secure the victory. The official race results are as follows:

Win - Union Rags (6/1)

Place - Paynter (8/1)

Show - Atigun (30/1)
