Spain gave Team USA their best shot in the men's basketball Gold Medal Game, but it would be the Americans that would come out on top with a 107-100 win.
Kevin Durant had another huge game, scoring a game-high 30 points while LeBron James added 19 points and clutch baskets down the stretch.
Spain forward Pau Gasol gave the Americans fits down low, scoring 24 points, but an eye injury caused him to miss a critical stretch in which the Americans got separation from Spain.
After jumping out to an eight point lead after one quarter, Spain cut the deficit to one point at halftime and even at the end of the third quarter. However the defense of Chris Paul and the shooting of James down the stretch helped the U.S. get by.
This is the second consecutive gold medal in men's basketball for Team USA.

Only one more team stands between Team USA and a shot in the gold medal game in men's basketball and it's a team that the Americans have already defeated. On Monday, Team USA started relatively slow against Argentina but ran on all cylinders in the third quarter before cruising to a 126-97 victory.
With a win Team USA would advance to a gold medal game against the winner of the matchup between Spain and Russia tipping off at noon ET, but with a loss Team USA would vie for bronze against the loser of that game.
Friday's game will be broadcast live on the NBC Sports Network at 3:30 p.m. ET. A live online stream of the game is also available from NBCOlympics.com.

The United States are now just two wins away from another gold medal in men's basketball, after taking down Australia 119-86 on Wednesday afternoon. The U.S. men's team jumped out to 14-point lead at halftime, but Australia still hung in tough.
They couldn't hang in the second half, thanks in part to 20 points from Kobe Bryant and a triple-double from LeBron James. James ended the night with 11 points, 12 assists, and 14 rebounds. Carmelo Anthony continued his torrent of points in the Olympics, adding another 17 points on the evening.
Patrick Mills added 26 points for the Australian team, but it wasn't near enough to keep the game competitive late.
Team USA will now move on to face off against Argentina in a rematch.

For the U.S., Deron Williams leads the team in scoring in the first half with 13 points while LeBron James nearly had a double-double with seven points and 10 rebounds.

Whatever concerns fans may have had about Team USA at the half were erased in the third quarter of the men's basketball team's game against Argentina on Monday. Kevin Durant and Lebron James powered an dominant offensive performance in the last two quarters of the game to give the United States a 126-97 win.
The Americans really heated up outside the three-point line. Kevin Durant went 5-for-6 on three-point attempts in the third quarter, finishing the game with nine three-pointers and a total of 28 points to lead the team. Durant and James led a third quarter in which Team USA outscored Argentina 42-17.
Monday's win ends pool play. The Americans will face Australia in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant have led the way offensively, with Anthony scoring 14 points and Durant nine points in the first half. Chris Paul has chipped in four points, four rebounds and four assists for Team USA.
The Americans have looked sluggish defensively, allowing Lithuania to score relatively easily in the first half, as evidenced by a 55.6 shooting percentage from Lithuania prior to halftime. Lithuania had won just one of their first three games in group play coming in to this game, and were coming off a 82-74 loss to France.

The United States men's basketball team comfortably defeated Tunisia in their first game at the London 2012 Olympics, but got off to a very slow start. They appear to have learned a few lessons from that, as their start was anything but slow on Thursday night. They scored a jaw-dropping 49 points in the first quarter en route to a 156-73 win over Nigeria. The win was the biggest in USA basketball history.
Carmelo Anthony turned in one of the greatest performances in Olympics basketball history, scoring 37 points in under 15 minutes of time on the floor. He hit an incredible 10 three-point shots and was 13-16 from the floor. Ike Diogu, a former NBA player who could be looking for a way back, helped his cause with 27 points. Unfortunately, Nigeria offered very little in the way of offensive support or team defense.

It wasn't the fastest of starts for Team USA. The Americans led by just six points at the end of the first quarter, 21-15, against a team, Tunisia, they were favored to beat by 55 points.
But eventually, as six players finished in double-figure scoring totals, the U.S. would cruise rather comfortably to a 110-63 win. They'd outscore Tunisian 39-14 in the third quarter and and 25-16 in the fourth en route to their second Olympic win during the 2012 London Games.
Carmelo Anthony would lead the United States in scoring with 16 points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting from the field, including 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Kevin Love also had 16 on 6-for-9 shooting, as well as six rebounds.
Collectively, they shot more than 60 percent from the field, and afterwards, signed a few sneakers.

Team USA Basketball had little trouble dismissing the French team 98-71 on Sunday in their opening game of the 2012 London Olympics. The U.S. squad, led by Kevin Durant's 22 points, put a sluggish first quarter start behind them to outscore the French team by 26 points over the final three quarters of the game.
In addition to Durant's 22 points, Kevin Love chipped in 14 points and three rebounds with LeBron James contributing nine points, eight assists and five rebounds. Carmelo Anthony added nine points and nine boards for the victorious American squad.
France was led by Ali Traore's 12 points, with NBA star Tony Parker adding 10. Burgeoning Washington Wizards big man Kevin Serpaphin scored just three points on one of five shooting from the floor in limited minutes.

Team USA Basketball began their gold medal campiagn on Sunday in London at the 2012 Summer Games against France, and hold a 52-36 lead at halftime of their Group A qualifying game.
After a sluggish first quarter in which the United States led just 22-21, Team USA poured it on in the second, outscoring France 30-15 to take the 16 point halftime lead.
Kevin Durant has led the way with 15 points and 5 rebounds, while LeBron James has chipped in five points, six rebounds and four assists and the lonely American big, Tyson Chandler, has added six points and seven rebounds.
France has been led by Florent Pietrus with eight points and a bespectacled Tony Parker with six points. Kevin Seraphin of the Wizards played just three minutes in the first half, not scoring a bucket but blocking one shot.
The game can currently be seen live on NBC Sports Network or streamed on NBCOlympics.com.

Team USA Basketball begins their quest for the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games in earnest on Sunday morning, when they face Tony Parker and the French in an opening round Group A battle. The game can be seen live on NBC Sports Network or streamed on NBCOlympics.com.
Team USA will be heavy favorites against the French, despite the presence of several NBA players to go along with Parker on Team France. Boris Diaw, Ronny Turiaf and the Washington Wizards own blossoming big man Kevin Seraphin will certainly be familiar with their American counterparts, but the roster talent differential is simply too great for the French to overcome.

In Barcelona on Tuesday, Team USA faced off against the Spanish National Team that gave them a scare in the gold medal game of the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing. But the game wouldn't be as close as the Americans defeated the Spaniards, 100-78.
Carmelo Anthony led the way with 27 points off the bench, including 23 first half points to help secure the victory. LeBron James pumped in 25 points and Kevin Durant helped break the game open by scoring 10 of his 13 points in the first three minutes of the third quarter.
For Spain, they were led by Los Angeles Lakers star Pau Gasol who scored 19 points, and Oklahoma City Thunder big man Serge Ibaka -- who became a Spanish national last year -- who contributed 16 points in the loss.

Playing in Barcelona, Spain, the very place where the Dream Team took the world by storm 20 years ago, in 1992, the 2012 U.S. Men's National Team wore throwback uniforms, similar to the ones worn by Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan.
But that's where the similarities ended as Team USA squeaked by with a 86-80 exhibition victory over Argentina on Saturday.
Kevin Durant led the American squad with 27 points to go go along with 18 points from Kobe Bryant and 15 from LeBron James and despite those contributions, Team USA still managed to squander a 20 point lead and let the Argentinians back in the game. The San Antonio Spurs Manu Ginobili scored 23 points while Carlos Delfino added 15 and Luis Scola, 14 points.

Team USA improved to 2-0 in their five-game exhibition tour prior to the 2012 London Olympic Games. Coach K's team pulled out an 80-69 victory at Verizon Center in downtown DC. It was their final tune-up on American soil, with the team now heading across the pond to continue their exhibition play against Great Britain.
It was a much stiffer test on Monday night compared to the walk-through against the Dominican Republic in Las Vegas. Team USA was particularly sloppy on the offensive end to start the game, and compounded missed shots with turnovers as Brazil jumped out to a ten point lead. Due to several injuries, Team USA is relatively thin up front and Brazil has one of the better frontcourts in international basketball with NBA players Nene, Tiago Splitter, and Anderson Varejao all anchoring the paint. The Wizards' big man, Nene, played well in the middle and battled Tyson Chandler.
But Team USA would overcome the slow start to maintain a lead throughout the second half. Brazil went on an 8-2 run to cut it to just six with under six minutes to go but the American talent was too much and closed out the double-digit victory. LeBron James, who will be forced to play some center on the smaller roster, led the way with 30 points and six rebounds. DC native and reigning NBA scoring champ Kevin Durant scored 11 points while Chris Paul added 10.
Team USA will now play Great Britain at Manchester Arena in three days on the July 19.

In their first real tune-up in advance of the 2012 London Olympics, the USA women's basketball team rolled over Brazil in the first half of a doubleheader at Verizon Center. Lindsay Whalen scored 21 points for Geno Auriemma's squad, as they blew out Brazil 99-67. Whalen was filling a spot for Sue Bird, who left the team because of a death in the family.
In addition to Whalen, former UConn star Diana Taurasi chipped in 16 points and added seven assists. Taurasi looked solid controlling the ball after missing the past month of WNBA play. With Bird unavailable, the women's team really didn't miss a beat in their final game before crossing the pond to train in advance of the London games. They have won 33 straight games in Olympic play and are looking for their fifth straight gold medal.
