2012 Wimbledon Results: Serena Williams Defeats Petra Kvitova 6-3, 7-5

In straight sets, Serena Williams defeated fourth seeded Petra Kvitova without once getting broken. The four-time Wimbledon champion won the first set 6-3 and broke Kvitova late in the second set to earn a 7-5 victory in the second set and a match victory.

Kvitova is the first player the sixth seeded Williams has faced in the tournament with a lower seed, but she may face second seeded Victoria Azarenka of Belarus in the semifinals. Azarenka faces unseeded Tamira Paszek on Tuesday in a match to decide Williams' next opponent.

Williams is the lone American woman still in the Wimbledon draw and only Mardy Fish remains for the Americans in the men's singles draw. The semifinals for the women's draw will be played on Thursday, July 5.
