After winning in the equestrian team eventing jumping, Germany dominated the individual aspect of the event, earning both the gold and bronze medals. The three medals in equestrian earned by Germany on Tuesday greatly helped their medal count that was stuck at just one after the first three days of the Olympics.

Taking the gold for the Germans was Michael Jung, riding a horse named Sam, finishing ahead of Sara Algotsson Ostholt of Sweden. Rounding out the podium was Sandra Auffarth, also of Germany.

Team USA's top result was from Karen O'Connor who finished in ninth, just one spot behind Zara Phillips of Great Britain, the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth. Will Coleman of Gordonsville, Virginia finished in the 37th spot in the competition, third among Americans.

Tuesday's events represented the end of equestrian eventing competitions, but dressage events will begin on Thursday.
