2012 Wimbledon Championships: Roger Federer To Face Novak Djokovic In Semifinals

The men's semifinal are set for the 2012 Wimbledon Championships as top seeded Novak Djokovic, No. 3 seeded Roger Federer, No. 3 seeded Andy Murray and No. 5 seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga all won their matches on Wednesday.

Djokovic had no issues with their matchups as he won in straight sets over Florian Mayer by a score of 6-4, 6-1 and 6-4. Mayer was no threat for the defending Wimbledon champion with Djokovic being on top of his game in the quarterfinal victory.

His opponent will be Federer, who like Djokovic won in straight sets over their opponent. Federer defeated Mikhail Youzhny 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2. Federer showed no weakness in his win over Youzhny while winning in a quick 91 minutes and won 89 of the 148 total points.

The other half of the bracket saw Great Britain's Andy Murray defeat No. 7 seeded David Ferrer 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 and 7-6. Murray started off slow in the first set, but he was able to regroup and have the momentum the rest of the way to victory.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will be facing Murray in the other semifinal match, and he advanced by taking care of No. 27 Philipp Kohlschreiber, winning 7-6, 4-6, 7-5 and 6-2. The first three sets were tightly contested, but Tsonga looked dominant in the fourth set to move one step closer to winning his first career Grand Slam.
