2012 Summer Olympics: Team USA Wins Bronze In Women's Quadruple Sculls Rowing Event

Rowing crews featuring a handful of competitors from the Washington DC metro area took the water on Wednesday as the 2012 Summer Olympics continued. The American women's quadruple sculls teams, featuring Silver Spring's Natalie Dell, won a bronze medal in the event.

The Ukrainian team won the gold medal for quadruple sculls, dominating the race to make the win look easy. Germany finished in second place with the silver medal. Team USA paddled along in front of the Australian team to hang onto third place in the race. The final times for the top three finishers looked like this: Ukraine, 6:35.93; Germany, 6:38.09; United States 6:40.63.

The American team in the men's eight rowing competition finished in fourth place on Wednesday morning. That team featured a pair of crew members from the DC area, David Banks and Giuseppe Lanzone.
