2012 Summer Olympics Final Medal Count: United States Takes Home Most Golds

Sadly, the events of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London came to an end Sunday, and to no one's surprise, the United States ends the games with the most gold medals and most medals overall.

The U.S. had the title locked up for a couple of days, yet they were still able to add to the total after the men's basketball team won their second consecutive gold medal in the Olympics.

Here is a video breakdown of the medal count in all of its 8-bit glory, along with a fine tribute to the United States for their achievements.

The closing ceremonies for the games will air at 8 p.m. ET on NBC from Olympic Stadium.
