The Nationals scored seven in the third inning against Ryan Vogelsong and the Giants to lead 11-0
The Washington Nationals have shelled Ryan Vogelsong in the third inning of tonight's game in San Francisco, pushing him out of the game after allowing eight runs on nine hits in 2.2 innings of work.
The inning started off with routinely with Vogelsong striking out opposing pitcher Gio Gonzalez for the first out. What followed, however, was anything but ordinary. Eight straight Nationals reached base, a stretch that included RBI singles from Michael Morse, Danny Espinosa, Roger Bernadina and was capped off by a Kurt Suzuki three-run double. Gio Gonzalez then struck out again for the second out of the inning, but Steve Lombardozzi followed with another single. That was the end of Vogelsong's night as Brad Penny came in to get Bryce Harper to fly out for the final out of the inning.
All in all, the Nationals scored seven runs on seven hits and two walks, and now lead the Giants 11-0.
