Olympics 2012: Gabby Douglas Wins Gold In Women's Gymnastics Individual All Around

Gabby Douglas of Virginia Beach, Va. used a strong performance in the floor exercise to help secure a gold medal in the women's gymnastics all-around competition on Thursday. Douglas recorded the second best score on the floor exercise, recording a 15.033, only decimal points off the best floor exercise routine, which scored 15.200.

Douglas' scoring in other events helped immensely. She earned the best scores in the competition on the vault and the balance beam to record a final score of 62.232. The other gymnasts on the medal podium are Russians Viktoria Komova for silver and Aliya Mustafina for bronze.

Komova recorded a score of 61.973 and Mustafina recorded a score of 59.566. Mustafina tied with American Aly Raisman for third place, but Mustafina highest sum of her three best events to earn the tiebreaker.
