Chad Tracy Signs 2013 Deal With Nationals

Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson announced that pinch hitter Chad Tracy has had his contract extended for the 2013 MLB season.

Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson announced that pinch hitter Chad Tracy has had his contract extended for the 2013 MLB season. Tracy's contract may be worth $1 million for 2013.

Tracy, 32, is a seven-year MLB veteran who joined the Nationals this season on a minor league contract after spending 2011 playing for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in the Japanese Central League. Tracy made the opening day roster for Washington and has appeared in 43 games this season. He is hitting .283/.353/.517 this season with three home runs, six walks and 13 RBI. Tracy is a .278/.337/.447 hitter for his career.

Tracy is mostly used as a pinch hitter for the Nationals, but also is Adam LaRoche's backup at first base. Tracy is hitting .400 (4-for-10) in the month of August with two doubles and an RBI.
