2012 Citi Open Results: Americans Move Through On Day 4

Four top-seeded Americans advanced on Thursday during the fourth day of action at the 2012 Citi Open. On the men's side, both Sam Querrey and Mardy Fish breezed through with straight set victories. Fish is the top-ranked male in the tournament, but he's had a rough summer dealing with multiple injuries. Fish returned at Wimbledon after sitting out for months after doctors discovered an irregular heartbeat. He had a strong showing in London but suffered an ankle injury last week that has hobbled him a bit in DC this week.

But injury issue hasn't drastically affected his ability to advance, as he defeated Ricardas Berankis, 6-3, 6-1, to move on to the third round. Fish gave up just two break chances and he'll now face Xavier Malisse, who upset Frenchman Jeremy Chardy in the second round.

Querrey defeated German Benjamin Becker, 6-3, 6-4, to advance to the third round. Querrey put Becker on his heels throughout the match and is playing with tons of confidence as he tries to build momentum towards the US Open.

On the women's side of the draw, the ultra-talented teenager Sloane Stephens advanced with a 6-4, 6-4, win over Eugenie Bouchard. Stephens continues her solid play after making some noise this summer. She'll face Magdalena Rybarikova in the semifinals. The other women's semi will feature American Vania King, who defeated Coco Vandeweghe in three sets.
