Alex Ovechkin's Girlfriend Wins Tennis Doubles Bronze, Look Out Moscow Here Comes The Party

Stay connected for news and updates

On Sunday, the Russian duo of Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova defeated the American team of Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 to capture the women's tennis doubles bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Kirilenko just happens to be the girlfriend of Washington Capital Alex Ovechkin, and needless to say, Ovi was a tad excited for his lady friend and her medal. Via the man himself:

While excited for Kirilenko and her partner, I am also saddened by the fact that "the Alex Ovechkin as roving Olympic tennis reporter" stage of the summer games is now complete, as his twitter feed has been a goldmine of enthusiasm and humor for the past eight days. In the immortal words of Andrew W.K...party hard Ovi...party hard.
