2012 London Olympics: Matt Centrowitz Finishes Fourth In 1500m Final

Maryland native Matt Centrowitz Jr. was .04 seconds away from leaving the London Games with a medal. Instead, he wrapped up the finals of the 1500m on Tuesday with a time of 3:35.17 seconds, and in fourth place, behind Abdalaati Iguider of Morocco, who finished in 3:35.13 seconds.

The gold and silver medals went to Taoufik Makhloufi of Algeria and Leonel Manzano of the United States, respectively, who posted final times of 3:34.08 and 3:34:79 seconds.

Centrowitz, who was raised in Arnold, Md., about 30 miles outside of Washington D.C., finished fifth in his semifinal race earlier with a time 3:34.90. He competed collegiality at the University of Oregon, and his father is currently the head track coach at American University.
