Monday was Alex Ovechin's 27th birthday, and he celebrated the way any of us would: with a cake. A pyrotechnic cake.

For the record, here's the NHL statistical tally for Ovechkin at the beginning of his 28th year: 553 games, 339 appearances, 340 assists, 679 points, 372 penalty minutes, 2 player lockouts. In 51 playoff games the numbers are: 30 goals, 29 assists, 59 points, 26 penalty minutes, and 2 player lockouts.
