The Navy Midshipmen, 0-2 entering Saturday's contest, had no trouble with the VMI Keydets of the FCS, winning 41-3 on Saturday afternoon in Annapolis, MD. VMI actually led the game 3-0 before allowing 41 unanswered points.
Navy quarterback Trey Miller was the star of the game, rushing 17 times for 116 yards and three touchdowns out of the Midshipmen triple-option attack. Miller also completed seven of 14 passes in the game for 107 yards.
Running back Noah Copeland added 126 yards on 20 carries, with Navy rushing for 403 yards total on 51 carries as a team. The Midshipmen amassed 510 yards of total offense to just 222 for the Keydets.
Navy is now 9-0 all-time against VMI in a series that dates back to 1898.
Navy will host the San Jose State Spartans next Saturday at Navy Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.

A 7-yard rushing touchdown by junior quarterback Trey Miller and two field goals by freshman kicker Nick Sloan have helped the Navy Midshipmen take a 13-3 halftime lead over Virginia Military Institute in a showdown at Navy Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md.
Navy's triple-option offense has totaled 257 yards, including 54 from Miller who has 13 carries, on the Football Championship Subdivision foe.
Navy's three scores answered an early field goal by VMI, which recovered a Navy fumble on the game's opening possession. The Keydets took over at their own 35-yard line and 10 plays later took an early 3-0 lead thanks to a 42-yard field goal by Jeff Sexton.
From there, it was all Navy, which has gotten strong performances from senior taliback Gee Gee Greene and sophomore full back Noah Copeland. Greene is the Midshipmen's leading rusher with 64 yards on six caries, while Copeland has tallied 79 yards on 10 carries. Miller has completed 3 of 6 passes for 39 yards.
Sloan has nailed field goals from 19 and 35 yards.
