The Washington Redskins lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 7-3, after the first quarter of play at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday.
The Buccaneers got on the scoreboard first with a 50-yard field goal from Connor Barth with 4:48 to play in the first quarter. The Redskins responded with a touchdown with just nine seconds remaining in the quarter. Washington rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III rushed on a draw play on 3rd and 5 at the Buccaneers 9-yard line for the eventual score. Griffin fumbled the ball into the endzone when he collided by Tampa Bay defender Mark Barron at the 1-yard line, and wide receiver Pierre Garcon fell on the loose ball to give Washington the lead. The fumble recovery capped a seven-play, 75-yard scoring drive for Washington.
The Redskins only had two possessions in the quarter due to a three-and-out on their first drive of the game and two sustained drives from the Buccaneers.
