The Navy Midshipmen (3-3) are known for running the triple-option, but on Friday night against the the Central Michigan Chippewas (2-4) they did most of their damage through the air. Freshman quarterbck Keenan Reynolds, who was starting the first game of his career, threw for three touchdowns en route to a 31-13 victory.

Two of those touchdown passes went to running back Gee Gee Green, who hauled in scores of 19 and 41 yards. To go along with those two catches for 60 yards, Green also added 39 yards rushing on seven carries. Navy didn't exactly morph into West Virginia, though -- they still ran the ball 62 times for 238 yards, though that only comes out to 3.8 yards per carry.

Central Michigan hung around until the mid-third quarter, when Army put up two touchdowns in less than two minutes. The Chippewas offense just couldn't match Navy -- the Midshipmen defense held Central Michigan to just 221 yards of offense. Their lone touchdown came on a 29-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Radcliff to Titus Davis with less than a minute remaning in the first half.

Box Score Hero: Reynolds was responsible for 193 of Navy's 372 yards. He threw for 134 yards and rushed for 59 on 24 carries.

Rankings Ramifications: Neither Navy or Central Michigan are anywhere near the Top 25, and that won't change unless the Midshipmen go on a long winning streak.

But Did They Cover? Nope. Central Michigan was a one-point favorite.

After a lackluster second quarter allowed the Central Michigan Chippewas to pull within a touchdown, the Navy Midshipmen scored two touchdowns in the third quarter on Friday night to extend their lead to 31-13 going into the fourth.

Before Navy got back on the board, though, the Chippewas added a field goal to make the score 17-13, but that was all they would get in the third. With 4:08 left in the quarter, Prentice Christian rushed into the endzone from two yards out to make the score 24-13. Then, less than two minutes later, freshman quarterback Keenan Reynolds struck with a 41-yard touchdown pass to Gee Gee Greene -- it was Reynolds' third touchdown pass of the night, and second to Greene.

Through three quarters, Reynolds has amassed 134 yards passing and 72 yards on the ground. Greene has caught two passes for 60 yards to go with 39 yards rushing. The Navy defense, meanwhile, has held the Chippewas to just 211 yards of offense.

The Navy Midshipmen cooled off after a scintillating first quarter, but still took a 17-10 halftime lead over the Central Michigan Chippewas into the locker room on Friday night. Navy had dominated for much of the game, but the Chippewas cut into a 17-3 lead with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Radcliff to Titus Davis with 56 seconds left in the half.

Navy jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the first quarter thanks to two touchdown passes by freshman quarterback Keenan Reynolds, but only managed to tack on a 37-yard field goal in the second quarter. The Chippewas, meanwhile, were able to recover from a dismal first quarter in which they put up only 22 yards of offense, collecting 132 yards of offense in the second quarter.

Of Navy's 223 total yards, 137 have come thanks to Reynolds. He has 74 yards on 4-7 passing and 63 yards rushing on 15 carries. The Midshipmen racked up 149 yards on the ground in the half, with Noah Copeland running for 39 yards and Gee Gee Greene for 30.

Navy Midshipmen quarterback Keenan Reynolds got off to a good start in his first ever start. The freshman threw two touchdown passes in the first quarter of the team's Friday night game against the Central Michigan Chippewas, leading the Midshipmen to a 14-3 lead.

The first touchdown pass was a 23-yard connection to Brandon Turner on Navy's first drive that put the Midshipmen up 7-0. After the Chippewas answered back with a field goal on their ensuing drive, Reynolds completed a 19-yard touchdown pass to Gee Gee Greene to make the score 14-3.

Reynolds accounted for 113 of Navy's 155 total yards in the first half, with 74 coming through the air (on 4-5 passing) and 39 coming on the ground on nine carries. Reynolds' stellar first quarter play was backed up by a defense that locked down Central Michigan's offense after that first drive, allowing only 22 total yards (eight passing, 14 rushing).
