The MLS regular season came to an end on Sunday and D.C. United will head into the playoffs as the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

A 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire on Saturday helped D.C. United finish the regular season in second place in the Eastern Conference. The point in their final game gave United 58 for the season and locked them into an Eastern Conference Semifinal matchup with third seeded New York Red Bulls.

Sporting Kansas City finished atop the East for the second consecutive season. With 63 points and the No. 1 seed in the East, Kansas City will await the winner of the Knockout Round game between Chicago and the Houston Dynamo.

Out west, the San Jose Earthquakes concluded their spectacular season with 66 points and the Supporters' Shield title. San Jose Forward Chris Wondolowski scored once in the final game of the regular season to give him 27 on the year and tie the MLS record for goals in a season. The Earthquakes will play a Western Conference Semifinal against the winner of the Knockout Round match between the LA Galaxy and Vancouver Whitecaps.

The other Western Conference Semifinal will be between Seattle Sounders and Real Salt Lake.

The playoffs begin on Wednesday with the Eastern Conference Knockout round and continue Thursday for the Western Conference Knockout Round. The Conference Semifinals begin on Friday. D.C. begins it's playoffs on Saturday in New York.
