Andre Cornelius Suspended For 10 Games After Pleading Guilty To Credit Card Fraud

George Mason basketball has suspended senior point guard Andre Cornelius for 10 games after he pleaded guilty to credit card fraud and a six-month suspended sentence, according to the school. That means the senior guard will be out of action until the Patriots' December 21 game against Duquesne.

"I made a mistake, and as a result, I have lost the opportunity to do one of the things I love the most - play basketball at George Mason," Cornelius said. "I accept this punishment and will work as hard as possible to support my team and get ready to make an impact when I come back."

Cornelius was originally suspended indefinitely in mid-September. He has started 66 games at George Mason and averaged 9.5 points per game last year. His temporary absence will make life difficult for new coach Paul Hewitt, though it appears Cornelius will only miss one CAA game during his suspension.
