Since we gave the Goodman League some love in this space the other day, it seems only fair that we should spotlight another summer hoops showcase of a slightly different vintage: the Baskeball Alumni Legends League (BALL)

Here's the deal, courtesy of Ben Standig at CSN Washington.

Former local college stars from Maryland, Georgetown, George Mason and George Washington will take on a similar team from Philadelphia this Saturday, 4 p.m. at GW's Smith Center.

The two sides will then travel up I-95 and play on the Saint Joseph's campus Sunday night (8 p.m.) with television coverage for both games on Comcast SportsNet.

That's right, televised college hoops alumni games in early August. Who said D.C. wasn't a hoops town?

And that's not all. Check out this list of names: Jason Clark, Henry Sims, Chris Monroe, Jai Lewis, Folarin Campbell, Will Thomas, Tony Taylor, and D. J. Strawberry. Call us romantics, but we're still holding out hope for an appearance by recently retired Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje. Oh, well. Next time.
