George Washington Vs. St. Bonaventure: Colonials Open A-10 Play Against Bonnies

GWU posted a 4-8 record in its non-conference slate. Will its fortunes improve when play shifts to the A-10?

The George Washington Colonials (4-8) can win consecutive games for the first time since November when they visit the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (7-5) on Wednesday as Atlantic-10 Conference play gets underway. Tipoff is set for 7pm Eastern at Reilly Center in St. Bonaventure, NY.

The Colonials ended their seven-game losing skid Saturday with a decisive victory against the Delaware St. Hornets, 77-59, behind 20 points from senior guard Tony Taylor. The Colonials' 35-21 rebound advantage afforded them 17 more shot attempts than the Hornets, which proved instrumental in securing the win.

The Bonnies have won four of their last five games, most recently a 72-70 victory against the Niagara Purple Eagles on Friday. Demetrius Conger scored 27 points and hauled in 11 boards in an efficient outing. Conger shot 8-of-10 from the field and 11-of-13 from the foul line en route to his highest-scoring game of the season.

In the most recent meeting between GWU and St. Bonaventure, the Bonnies pulled away in the second half to deal the Colonials a 62-48 defeat. Matthew Wright scored 18 points off St. Bonaventure's bench to lead all scorers. GWU struggled from the field, shooting a frigid 30.9 percent for the game and 25.9 percent in the second half.
