George Washington Vs. St. Louis: Colonials Look For Sixth Win Against Billikens On The Road

The George Washington Colonials travel to St. Louis to face the Billikens on Saturday night. Each team is looking for their first Atlantic 10 win.

The George Washington Colonials men's basketball team will look to get their sixth win of the season on the road against the St. Louis Billikens on Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET in Chaifetz Arena. The Colonials have won just one of their last nine games and are coming off a 66-56 loss to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies while the Billikens are 12-3 but have lost two in a row and are coming off an overtime loss at the hands of the Dayton Flyers. Both teams are 0-1 in the Atlantic 10 and are tied for seventh place in the conference.

The Colonials are led by senior guard Tony Taylor, who is averaging 13 points per game so far this season. He is the only player on the team averaging double digit points per game. Juniors Lasan Kromah and David Pellom are second and third on the team in scoring, averaging 9.8 and 8.8 points respectively.

George Washington's biggest challenge will be limiting a trio of upperclassmen that all average double digit points per game. The Billikens are led by senior forward Brian Conklin, who averages 15.3 points per game, and juniors Cody Ellis and Kwamain Mitchell, who both average 11 points per game.

George Washington needs to be on top of their game if they want to stop their losing ways in St. Louis. The Billikens have the NCAA's fifth-ranked scoring defense and has held opposing teams to an average of 54.7 points this season. Other players besides Taylor will have to step up to supply the Colonials with enough points to give them a shot at winning.

After Saturday's game, the Colonials come back home to play the Rhode Island Rams on Jan. 11, and the Billikens stay at home to play the Temple Owls on the same day.
