Sources within Maryland Law Enforcement have confirmed that a man who was the victim of a shooting in Bowie, Md., was Charles Smith, a former basketball start at Georgetown. During his time at Georgetown Charles Smith won the 1988-89 Big East Player of the Year award and was a member of the US Basketball team that won a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympic Games. He retired in 2001 after a brief career with the Boston Celtics and 10 years spent playing overseas.
