Georgetown will get its 2011-12 basketball season underway with a noon home game against Savannah State.

The Georgetown Hoyas will get their 2011-12 season underway with a cupcake game at home against Savannah State on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off from the Verizon Center is scheduled for noon, and the game will be carried on ESPN 980 on the radio and CSTV.

John Thompson III's squad suffered some major graduation losses from last year, but there are a number of promising options. Guard Jason Clark will lead the way, along with forwards Hollis Thompson and Nate Lubick and center Henry Sims. The Hoyas will also be relying on a number of underclassmen, including guard Markel Starks and forward Otto Porter. Georgetown is also hoping that the adversity it experienced in China will help bring the team together.

Savannah State is an independent just making the jump to Division I. Last season, it finished with a 12-18 record.
