The Georgetown Hoyas began their 2011-12 college basketball season with an easy win over lowly Savannah State at Verizon Center on Saturday afternoon. Henry Sims scored 19 points as the Hoyas pulled away in the second half for an 83-54 win.

Georgetown was a bit sloppy in the first half, taking only an eight-point lead into intermission. However, the Hoyas surged early in the second half after Savannah State cut their lead to three points. The Hoyas ended up going on a 20-2 run to turn a three-point lead into a 21-point lead midway through the second half.

Sims' 19 points ended up leading the way for the Hoyas, who won with a balanced effort. The Hoyas ended up shooting 67 percent from the field for the game, That's the best mark they've posted since shooting 64.2 percent in a game against Loyola last year.
