Georgetown Vs. Alabama: Hollis Thompson Three Gives Hoyas Last Second 57-55 Win

In the first sellout crowd for an Alabama non-conference home game in more than nine years, the Georgetown Hoyas went into Tuscaloosa and ended the nation's fourth longest home winning streak. Alabama, which had won 24 straight games at home, went on a ten point run to take the lead with just twelve seconds left in the game. A Hollis Thompson dagger from downtown, however, would seal the win for the Hoyas, putting them up two with less than two seconds to play.

The Hoyas blew a nine point lead with only two and a half minutes remaining in the game. Henry Sims missed two shots close in the lane to give Bama a chance. Sims was great for much of the second half, giving Georgetown that lead on a five point run that was highlighted by a drop step baseline move leading to a thunderous wrap around dunk on the other side of the rim. Sims finished with 13 points.

Georgetown was led by Jason Clark, who bounced back from a subpar performance against IUPUI on Monday night, and poured in 22 points. It appeared Clark's performance on the offensive end would be wasted, however, when he tried to go over the top of a screen and fouled Alabama guard Trevor Releford, who hit both free throws to give Bama the lead with 12 seconds. But Thompson was there to pick up Clark, hitting the game winning three to finish the night with 12 points and a huge road win for the Hoyas.

With the crucial non-conference Big East/SEC challenge win, it's likely Georgetown will find itself in the top 25 on Monday.
