Cincinnati Vs. Georgetown Final Score: Hoyas Lose First Game At Verizon Center This Season, Falling 68-64 To Bearcats

The Georgetown Hoyas lost their second game in a row on Monday night, falling 68-64 to the Cincinnati Bearcats. The Bearcats went on a 15-5 run over the final five minutes of the game to hand the Hoyas their first home loss of the season.

Down two with thirty seconds left, John Thompson III called timeout to set up a play. But what resulted was the 17th turnover of the night for the Hoyas, as Otto Porter's foot went out of bounds as he tried to drive the baseline. Georgetown was forced to immediately foul but Dion Dixon would ice the game on two separate occasions, hitting four straight free throws to keep it a two-possession game over the final seven seconds.

The Bearcats spent much of the second half switching between zone and man-to-man defense, as the Hoyas tried to take advantage of opportunities from behind the arc and were efficient from three-point range. Hollis Thompson led Georgetown going a perfect four for four from downtown, but was held scoreless in the second half as Cincinnati clamped down on defense. Jason Clark matched Thompson with 14 points and was perfect from the field until a last second heave as time expired. The turnovers really hampered Georgetown.

Sean Kilpatrick was huge for Cincinnati, picking up a struggling Cashmere Wright. Kilpatrick took 16 shots and finished with a career-high 27 points.

Georgetown now has nearly a week off before traveling to Madison Square Garden to face St. John's on Sunday afternoon.

Cincinnati Vs. Georgetown Score Update: Hollis Thompson Perfect From Three-Point Range As Hoyas Lead Bearcats By Two At Halftime

Looking to start a new streak, the Georgetown Hoyas lead the Cincinnati Bearcats by two points after one half at the Verizon Center. It was a slow and plodding first half, with both teams picking up the pace over the final ten minutes to break the thirty point mark. Hollis Thompson led the Hoyas with 14 points, going a perfect four for four from behind the arc. Thompson hit a fadeaway three from 28 feet off the back of the window to give Georgetown the two-point lead as time expired.

Led by Thompson, the Hoyas production from behind the arc kept them even with Cincinnati as they continued to give it away on the offensive end, uncharacteristically committing nine turnovers. Jason Clark was perfect from the floor as well, hitting three of three attempts. He completed an old-fashioned three-point play in the final minute of the half and finished with seven points.

The No.11-ranked Hoyas will look to maintain their lead in the second half and start a new winning streak in conference play.
