Georgetown is coming off a victory over Villanova on Saturday afternoon. Can they stay in position to earn a double bye in the Big East tournament with a win over Notre Dame Monday night?

The Georgetown Hoyas and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish both had uncharacteristic losses last week which wound up hurting them in the standings of the Big East. However, both teams still have an inside track to earn a double bye to the Big East tournament next month.

These two teams will face each other at the Verizon Center Monday night with third place in the Big East on the line. Georgetown is currently tied for fourth with South Florida in the standings, a win will pull the Hoyas even with Notre Dame for third.

The Hoyas will be looking for another pair of great performances from the players that led them to a victory over Villanova on Saturday. Otto Porter and Jason Clark both scored 15 points in the Hoyas' 67-46 victory over the Wildcats. Also to note, Georgetown coach John Thompson III has not yet committed to playing Markel Starks, who was healthy but did not play against Villanova on Saturday.

Notre Dame on the other hand will be relying on Jerian Grant and Eric Atkins to lead them to a victory. Both players were held to single digit points in the loss to St. John's so fans will have to hope for a rebound game for both players to pull off a victory at Verizon Center tonight.

Notre Dame has won three in a row against the Hoyas dating back to Jan. 2008.
