2012 NCAA Women's Tournament, Georgetown Vs. Georgia Tech: Hoyas Season Ends With 12-Point Loss

The Georgetown women's basketball team was bounced out of the 2012 NCAA Women's Tournament on Tuesday night with a 76-64 second-round loss to Georgia Tech. It was a matchup of the four and five seed, but the Hoyas could not pull off what would have been a mild upset. Georgetown shot just 34 percent from the floor while the Yellow Jackets shot 50 percent from the field on the evening.

After struggling in the first half, Sugar Rodgers had a 12-point second half for the Hoyas but she was still extremely cold, hitting only four of 19 shots. Tech said they would make a point of hounding her on the defensive end, and they succeeded in making her uncomfortable for the full 40 minutes. She also had little help to pick her up, as she was only one of two Hoyas in double figures. Georgetown's successful season ends at 23-9 while the Yellow Jackets now advance to play No. 1 overall seed, undefeated Baylor in the Sweet 16.
