A major preseason college basketball tournament is on track for 2017 and the Hoyas are in the mix.

We haven't even gotten to the 2012-13 college basketball season yet, but the Georgetown Hoyas are already being included in plans for a massive preseason tournament set to get underway in 2017. The Hoyas will reportedly take part along with the Big East rival Connecticut Huskies, according to The UConn Blog. According to the blog, the field appears to be set:

The tournament will be held in Portland, Ore. during November 2017 and feature two eight-team brackets. The other fifteen schools who have agreed to play are:

• Kentucky (SEC)
• Florida (SEC)
• Michigan State (Big Ten)
• Ohio State (Big Ten)
• Duke (ACC)
• North Carolina (ACC)
• Georgetown (Big East)
• Texas (Big 12)
• Oklahoma (Big 12)
• Stanford (Pac-12)
• Oregon (Pac-12)
• Xavier (A-10)
• Butler (A-10)
• Gonzaga (WCC)
• Portland (WCC)

We're used to seeing preseason NCAA tournaments, but usually not with this many teams. Throw in the fact that it's a field full of heavyweights and this will generate all sorts of excitement if it goes down. Just like the NCAAs, however, be ready to hear teams complaining about being left out of the mix.
