Maryland Vs. Miami: Terps' Final Drive Comes Up Short, Hurricanes Win 26-20

This felt like a game the Maryland Terrapins would find a way to win. They got two huge interceptions from senior linebacker Alex Wujciak. They played a Miami Hurricanes team that constantly beat themselves, whether it was penalties or burning all three of their timeouts in the third quarter. But in the end, they couldn't find a way to pick up the big ACC road win they needed, falling 26-20.

The star of the game was Miami's true freshman quarterback Stephen Morris. Morris gave Miami the lead with 37 seconds left, finding wide receiver Leonard Hankerson deep for a 35-yard touchdown. On the play before that, he scrambled 16 yards on 3rd and 11 to keep Miami's drive alive. He did throw two interceptions, but when it mattered most, he came up big.

The Terps made things interesting at the end. Wide receiver Adrian Canon had a 26-yard catch and run to get the ball to the Miami 42-yard line, and Kevin Dorsey caught a 12-yard pass two plays later with six seconds left to give Maryland one more chance. Quarterback Danny O'Brien lofted the ball up to Canon in the end zone, but he dropped it as he was hit hard by a Miami defensive back. The play wouldn't have held up anyway because Canon stepped out of bounds and was the first player to touch it.

Overall, Miami had 503 yards of total offense, compared to just 252 for the Terps. Penalties and turnovers kept Maryland in it, but they were outclassed today. O'Brien completed just 9 of 28 passes on the day, and only Davin Meggett was able to get anything going on the ground.

Maryland falls to 6-3 on the season and 3-2 in the ACC, while Miami's win gives them the same exact record.
