UNC-Greensboro Vs. Maryland: Terps Keep Same Starting Lineup, Roll To 99-56 Win

Gary Williams talked about the possibility of making sweeping lineup changes prior to the game against UNC-Greensboro. He didn't, and the two players who were in danger of being replaced stepped forward.

Adrian Bowie and Cliff Tucker had 16 and 13 points, respectively, and the Terps routed UNC-Greensboro 99-56 before a sparse crowd at Comcast Center tonight. Jordan Williams led the way with 23 points and 13 rebounds, but it was Bowie and Tucker who needed good performances and got them.

Now, the pressure may be on Sean Mosley, who had just six points. Terrell Stoglin had 18 points off the bench and looked very impressive, and while Mosley is a mainstay in the lineup, Stoglin has also clearly earned more playing time. It'll be interesting to see what happens going forward.

Kyle Randall led UNC-Greensboro with 18 points. The Spartans are still winless on the season.

UNC-Greensboro Vs. Maryland: Terps May Change Starting Lineup For Game

UPDATE: The same starting lineup will start the game. So much for possible changes.

The Maryland Terrapins will take on UNC-Greensboro at Comcast Center tonight at 7:30 p.m. in a game they will surely win. That's not the real news, though. The real news is that Gary Williams isn't thrilled with his starters after they played so poorly in a loss to Temple on Sunday and may bench them, as we suggested earlier in the week.

It's not yet clear if any changes will be made, but what is widely speculated (via Jeff Barker) is that freshmen Terrell Stoglin and Pe'Shon Howard, who led a comeback against Temple in place of Adrian Bowie and Cliff Tucker, will start. Whether Williams makes up his mind to make the change or not, it does seem clear that the two freshmen have earned more playing time. It's also interesting because Williams has a reputation of giving his seniors a little more leeway than many other coaches.

This would be a good game to try the lineup switch, because UNC-Greensboro is awful. They are 0-7 on the season, one of a handful of winless teams in Division I basketball. Maryland isn't going to lose this question. The question is whether they will win it with their seniors or with their freshmen.
