The Maryland Terrapins (2-3, 1-1) host the Clemson Tigers (6-0, 3-0) on Saturday, Oct. 15, and will do so as the underdogs. According to SB Nation partner Oddshark, Clemson opened as seven-point favorites, with the line shifting to eight and nine points at some outlets.
It's easy to understand the oddsmakers' pessimism regarding Maryland's chances. On top of their disappointing record, the Terrapins are dealing with an improbable quarterback controversy after their 21-16 loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in their previous game. Coach Randy Edsall yanked Danny O'Brien against Georgia Tech, inserting C.J. Brown in his place, and has yet to name a starter for Saturday.
On top of an interception, O'Brien had completed just one of his six attempts, prompting Edsall to change quarterbacks. Brown didn't fare much better, going 4-of-17 for 36 yards and a pick.
On top of all that, No. 8-ranked Clemson presents a significant challenge, as it boast three victories over ranked teams already this season.
