The Clemson Tigers, fresh off a 59-38 drubbing of the North Carolina Tar Heels, jumped from No. 8 to No. 6 in this week's AP Poll. One other ACC team joins the Tigers in the rankings, as Virginia Tech is ranked No. 15, up one slot from last week courtesy of their 30-14 win over Boston College on Saturday.
The LSU Tigers retained the No. 1 spot in the Week 9 AP Poll, followed by SEC conference foe Alabama at No. 2. LSU is also ranked No. 1 in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll, with the new BCS Rankings to be released after 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening.

The Week 9 USA Today Coaches Poll has been released, and just two Atlantic Coast Conference teams are ranked in the Top 25.
The offensive juggernaut that is the Clemson Tigers, fresh off a 59-38 thrashing of the North Carolina Tar Heels, jumped from eighth place last week to sixth place in this week's rankings. Virginia Tech, 30-14 winners over Boston College on Saturday, fell from the No. 14 position to No. 15. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets fell out of the rankings completely after their second striaght loss after starting the season 6-0.
Overall, LSU and Alabama are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 this week, as the college football world awaits what may be the de-facto national championship when the two teams square off in Tuscaloosa in early November. Several Top 10 teams from last weeks rankings fell, most notably Wisconsin, victims of a last second Hail Mary pass by the Michigan State Spartans in the wee hours Saturday evening.

Some early ACC conference matchups Saturday started off with No. 7 ranked team in the country, the Clemson Tigers, bum rushing the North Carolina Tar Heels. Here's a look at the early games:
North Carolina (5-3, 1-3 ACC) can't keep up with No. 7 Clemson (8-0, 5-0), 59-38: Tajh Boyd led the Tigers' prolific offense to the tune of 367 passing yards and 5 passing passing touchdowns. Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, not Sammy Watkins, led the way for the Tigers with 157 receiving yards and a touchdown. For more on the game, Clemson fans should visit Shakin' The Southland. Wake Forest (5-2, 4-1) holds on to beat Duke (3-4, 1-2): Tanner Price hit Chris Givens on a 66-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter as the Demon Deacons ripped away the win from the Duke Blue Devils. .
