Ralph Friedgen Didn't Literally Mean He Was Burning His Maryland Diploma

Remember the saga of Ralph Friedgen at Maryland? Of course you do. Remember how he said on the radio earlier in the week that he burned his Maryland diploma? You didn't think he was being serious, did you?

OK, maybe you knew he was kidding. But in case you didn't, Friedgen wanted to clear up that he was, in fact, joking.

Here's what he told Glenn Clark of WNST:

"I want to apologize to those who have supported me for my comments... I did not actually burn my diploma. I was only trying to make a joke."

Obviously, Friedgen is still upset about being fired by the Terps. Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if he is actually rooting for Georgia Tech when the two teams play this weekend. I would too. But as far as him actually burning his Maryland diploma, that would be a little extreme. It'd make a great story though.
