Faced with a key decision, Virginia elected to take the high-risk move, and it paid off. The Cavaliers decided to go for it on fourth and goal from the one-yard line and ended up getting a touchdown when running back Perry Jones ran off tackle. Jones' second touchdown of the game gives the Cavaliers a 21-13 lead with 7:21 left in the third quarter.
The Terps stuffed Jones on third and goal from the two-yard line, and Cavaliers coach Mike London had an interesting decision. When faced with a similar situation earlier in the game, Maryland coach Randy Edsall elected to kick the field goal. London instead went for the touchdown and it paid off.
Jones began the game with a 47-yard touchdown on Virginia's first play from scrimmage.
