Toledo Vs. Air Force, 2011 Military Bowl Preview: Expect Offense, MACtion

Two of college football's top offenses will be on display on Wednesday when Toledo takes on Air Force in the 2011 Military Bowl from RFK Stadium at 4:30 p.m. The game, which will be televised on ESPN, is expected to be an offensive shootout between two offenses that get it done in many different ways.

As Matt Dollinger noted in his Sports Illustrated game preview:

Two of the country's best offenses will meet in the Military Bowl, but they couldn't contrast any more starkly. Air Force employs college football's version of a knuckleball pitcher: a triple-option attack that churns out a staggering 320.2 rushing yards per game, the second most in the nation. Meanwhile, Toledo utilizes an explosive spread offense that put up 42.2 points per game (eighth in the FBS) and can score from anywhere on the field.

In addition, both teams struggle defensively, with Air Force giving up an average of 39.4 points per game in its losses and Toledo giving up an average of 30 points per game all season. Dollinger predicts a 45-38 Toledo win, which gives you an idea how high-scoring this game should be.
