Military Bowl 2011: North Carolina Not Playing, Reportedly Going To Independence Bowl Instead

We have conflicting reports on the status of North Carolina. Despite an earlier CBS report suggesting the Tar Heels would be the ACC's representative in the 2011 Military Bowl, a different report suggests the Tar Heels are instead going to the Independence Bowl. Via Eric Blumberg, a Missouri TV journalist:

vs. North Carolina in the Independence Bowl on Dec. 26th.

If North Carolina is going to the Independence Bowl instead, it leaves the teams who will play in the Military Bowl in question. The Tar Heels, at 3-5 in the ACC, were the final bowl-eligible team in the conference.

Military Bowl information:

Game date, time: 4:30 p.m. Eastern, December 28.

Location: RFK Stadium, Washington D.C.

TV channel: ESPN/EPSN3

2010 winner and loser: Maryland, East Carolina
