Virginia Vs. Auburn, 2011 Chick-Fil-A Bowl: Tigers Roll Cavaliers, 43-23

The 25th-ranked Auburn Tigers (8-5) dismantled the Virginia Cavaliers (8-5) on New Year's Eve in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, winning 43-24 behind backup running back Onterio McCalebb's huge performance.

With star running back Michael Dyer suspended for a violation of team rules, Auburn's backup rusher ran for 109 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Tigers' biggest offensive output of the season.

Despite losing quarterback Clint Moseley in the first quarter to an ankle injury, the Auburn offense did not miss a beat. Replacement signal caller Barrett Trotter threw for 175 yards and a touchdown, and Kiehl Frazier even ran for two touchdowns when Trotter was not in the game. All told Auburn rushed for 273 yards in the game.

Music City Bowl 2011: Wake Forest, Mississippi State Will Play In Game

The Demon Deacons started off strong but faded down the stretch, losing five of their last six to finish at 6-6 on the season. Mississippi State also finished 6-6 this season.

The most interesting subplot for this game is the status of Bulldogs coach Dan Mullen. Will he be with the Bulldogs for the bowl game? He has drawn considerable interest from Penn State and could accept that job before the game.

Orange Bowl 2012: Clemson, West Virginia Will Do Battle As Expected

As expected, the 2012 Orange Bowl will pit ACC champion Clemson against Big East champion West Virginia. The Tigers clinched their bid by defeating Virginia Tech, 38-10, in the ACC Championship Game, while it appears West Virginia will end up as the highest BCS-ranked Big East team. The official Orange Bowl website is already selling Clemson-West Virginia merchandise, so it looks official.

The Tigers finished with three late-season losses, but in typical Clemson fashion, they clinched their bid by defeating the Hokies. West Virginia is 9-3 and in a three-way tie for first in the Big East, but will end up with a better BCS ranking than Cincinnati or Louisville.

Sugar Bowl 2012: Virginia Tech, Michigan To Square Off, According To Report

The 2012 Sugar Bowl will pit Virginia Tech against Michigan, according to a report by Stewart Mandel of Sports Illustrated. Both teams were at-large selections, and both were somewhat surprising choices. In particular, the Hokies were a shock to many, getting a berth despite losing, 38-10, to Clemson in the ACC Championship Game.

Nevertheless, Virginia Tech, who has two losses to Clemson this season, is in the game. The Wolverines, meanwhile, are 10-2 this season, having finished off their campaign with a thrilling win over rival Ohio State.

Here is everything you need to know about the game.

Game date, time: 8:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Sugar Bowl 2012: Virginia Tech Will Participate In Game, According To Report

In a major surprise, Virginia Tech will participate in a BCS Bowl after all, even with its 38-10 ACC Championship Game loss to Clemson. The Hokies will play in the 2012 Sugar Bowl, according to Bryan D. Fisher. This contradicts an earlier report that suggests the Hokies would go to the Chick Fil-A Bowl.

The Hokies lost twice all year, both to Clemson. However, most suspected their lack of marquee wins would doom them further down the bowl picture. Instead, the ACC will get two teams in the BCS.

The Hokies' ascension means Virginia will replace them in the Chick-Fil A Bowl. It remains unclear who the Hokies would play in the Sugar Bowl.

Game date, time: 8:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Location: Superdome in New Orleans, La.

TV channel: ESPN

2011 winner and loser: Ohio State, Arkansas
