Dalonte Hill Takes Pay Cut To Become Maryland Basketball Assistant Coach

The news that Maryland basketball has pried assistant coach Dalonte Hill away from Kansas State is one of the most significant developments in the program's recent history. Hill was the nation's highest-paid assistant coach, and he has great local ties. He was the man responsible for bringing DMV resident Michael Beasley to Kansas State, a move that arguably revitalized the program. For some perspective, it's like if Jerry Sloan decided to come coach the Wizards. (OK, maybe not quite that improbable).

Hill made over $400,000 last season. He's a D.C. guy, so he views this as coming back home, but still, that's an impressive get for Maryland. We make fun of AD Kevin Anderson for reaching for the stars and failing, but he, along with Mark Turgeon, deserve a lot of props here.
