Maryland football released their new uniforms in a ceremony on Monday night. There are four jersey and pants colors, meaning there are 16 different combinations.
Having already modeled the new Maryland football uniforms with the Ric Flair strut, A.J. Francis later moved on to some sort of wrestling promo for the new jerseys. In it, he referred to the Terps as being "cleaner than you've ever seen us in your life," which should not be taken literally.
The video was recorded for Baltimore radio station WNST, which now gets themselves a pretty fun viral video to show off to its listeners.
Uni Watch, the definitive source on jersey designs, pretty much hates the new Maryland football uniforms.
Design considerations aside - and the design is pretty brutal - when the coach begins his remarks at the unveiling event by parroting the uniform manufacturer's slogan (yes, those were literally the first words out of his mouth), you've pretty much abandoned any pretense of this being anything other than a corporate masturbation session, a retailing showcase, and a sham.
Maryland came out with a new, and expansive, set of jerseys on Monday night. And just like everything else pretty much, they are getting mixed reviews from the general twitterverse. Here is some of the reaction:
Jeff Barker at the Baltimore Sun:
The uniforms are part of an updating of Maryland's brand. The football uniforms and field markings — which in recent years have highlighted the word "Terps" — will more prominently display "Maryland" much as Texas football features "Texas" on its uniform fronts.
You may or may not appreciate the creativity, but you have to give them credit for this much: They have seriously embraced the turtle thing. If you're a traditionalist looking for someone to blame, though, it's not the usual suspect for once: It's Baltimore's own Under Armour, headed by UM alum Kevin Plank, a former special teams captain for the Terp football team and current member of the university's Board of Trustees. He's not exactly Phil Knight, yet, but something tells me his latest may succeed in generating a little buzz this fall in an increasingly crowded arena.
Matt Bonesteel at the Washington Post:
Snap reaction: The all-black unis work much better than the Hoth-style all-whites. Some of them feature an intense amount of yellow. Others make me think of Iowa State.
The most important piece of reaction is something we can't see: how this will play with recruits. That was the big thing with these new jerseys and if that it is successful, that would be a huge help to the team. But I just can't see them or any other jersey swaying a recruits decision to go to one place or another. Not that I don't like them, I just don't think they are as important as they are making them out to be.
The new Maryland football uniforms debuted Monday night to mixed reviews, which is putting it pretty kindly. While most locally were a fan of some of the combinations (i.e. the black jersey/black pants one), many nationally scoffed at them. "Mixed reviews" is also probably the best way to describe this new white helmet.
There is going to be a very mixed response to the new Maryland football jerseys. They are very modern, and even if they weren't, this is just the type of thing that people find something to disagree about. The aspect that may become the greatest point of contention is the helmets, which don't feature a logo at all. Here is what our Maryland blog Testudo Times had to say about them.
The helmets will be the most controversial point, I'm sure, particularly as they don't feature a logo at all: no "Maryland", no "Terps", no nothing. The Terrapins are now joining a select group without a logo on the helmet: Michigan, OSU, Penn State, BC, Notre Dame, Army, and Navy. Maybe Alabama, though I feel like the numbers are sort of a logo for them. That's some pretty select company (yes, even you, BC).
It's a clean look, for sure, but it is an interesting gamble. The helmet is the easiest piece of branding on a football jersey because you can literally just put whatever logo you want on there. But the new jerseys have enough going on that it doesn't really matter.
Football players tend to spend very little time walking down a runway modeling clothing, because, well, they're football players. That's what made the unveiling of the new Maryland football uniforms particularly entertaining. Not only did we see the new look of Maryland on display, but we also saw Maryland players do some really goofy things.
Like defensive tackle A.J. Francis, for example. As you can see in this screenshot, Francis is doing the Ric Flair strut. He bragged about it afterwards too.
For all those that missed it, I did the Ric Flair strut down the catwalk... Had to hit um with a "Wooooooo" at the end too
Here are some of our other favorite celebrations.
Of all the new Maryland football jerseys, I think the gold ones are the most intriguing. The new uniforms were finally unveiled on Monday night, with Under Armour and CEO Kevin Plank present to cement the partnership. There were four different-colored jerseys and four different-colored pants, which means were were 16 combinations.
Here are the four gold jersey combinations. Thanks to Terps TV for the live stream from which these screenshots come.
What: Gold jerseys, black pants.
Model: Quintin McCree.
Thoughts: I can't put my finger on it, but I like the black top/gold pants combination better.
What: Gold jerseys, white pants.
Model: Ronnie Tyler.
Thoughts: They're OK I guess - probably the best of all the gold tops - but they really don't blow me away either.
What: Gold jerseys, gold pants.
Model: Davin Meggett.
Thoughts: Please go away. Nice camera skills, though.
Note: looks like nobody modeled gold jerseys and red pants. Probably for the best.

At long last, the new Maryland football uniforms were finally unveiled on Monday night. The new look, sponsored by Under Armour (who else?), featured four different colors for the pants and the jerseys. Multiply it up, and that means there were 16 possible color combinations unveiled during the ceremony.
Here is a look at all the different combinations involving white jerseys. Thanks to Terps TV for the live stream from which these screenshots come.
What: White jersey, black pants.
Model: Cameron Chism.
Thoughts: Didn't get a great look, but this seems pretty un-Maryland to me. Then again, they do look pretty cool, so maybe a new look is good.
What: White jersey, red pants.
Model: Matt Furstenberg.
Thoughts: Like the red jersey/white pants combo, these are pretty plain.
What: White jersey, gold pants.
Model: Demetrius Hartsfield.
Thoughts: Too much like the Redskins.
What: White jersey, white pants.
Model: A.J. Francis.
Thoughts: Yeah, let's retire these please.

The new Maryland football jerseys are out, and they certainly are striking. The new look, sponsored by Under Armour, featured four different color for the pants and the jerseys. Four times four is 16, so there are 16 different combinations.
Here is a look at all the black jerseys. Thanks to Terps TV for the live stream from which these screenshots come.
What: Black jersey, white pants.
Model: Trenton Hughes.
Thoughts: I really like these as road jerseys, especially at night, where the contrast could throw off the other team. OK, maybe not, but any little edge is good, right?
What: Black jersey, red pants.
Model: Darin Drakeford.
Thoughts: This is the only black model I really don't like. Those colors make absolutely no sense together, and the only reason to ever want to see this is to joke about it.
What: Black jersey, gold pants.
Model: Kevin Dorsey.
Thoughts: Definitely a new look, but it's cool. Still, it's not as cool as...
What: Black jersey, black pants.
Model: Kenny Tate.
Thoughts: ... this. This, my friends, is awesome. You want to bring new attitude to the Maryland program? Wear these jerseys all the time.

The new Maryland football uniforms were unveiled in a ceremony in College Park on Monday night in front of many adoring fans. The new look, sponsored by Under Armour, featured four different colors, both for the pants and the jerseys. That means there were 16 possible color combinations unveiled during the ceremony.
Here is a look at all the red jerseys. Thanks to Terps TV for the live stream from which these screenshots come.
What: Red jersey, white pants.
As modeled by: Danny O'Brien.
Thoughts: Fairly mundane, but probably the kind of jersey we will see a lot this season.
What: Red jerseys, black pants.
As modeled by: David Mackel.
Thoughts: These colors really shouldn't work well together, but I actually kind of like them. Makes Maryland look scary.
What: Red jersey, red pants.
As modeled by: R.J. Dill.
Thoughts: I hope to never see these again.
What: Red jersey, gold ... hey, wait a minute, that's red/red again!
As modeled by: Andrew Gonnella.
Thoughts: Where is the red/gold combo?

Here they are, folks: your new Maryland football jerseys. The Terps unveiled four different colors for both the jerseys and the pants: yellow, black, white and red. That's 16 different combinations. Here is a picture of some of tops in the same shot, along with coach Randy Edsall.
Here is a photo of eight of the 16 combinations, via UMTerps.com: It also appears there is no logo on the helmets, which really is interesting.
The Terps have been sponsored by Under Armour for several years, and this uniform had been in the works for that entire time. Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank is a major donator to the program and spoke at the ceremony. The new uniforms will not have player names on the back, a decision new coach Randy Edsall made in an attempt to trumped the program over any individual player.

We're only minutes away from the unveiling of the new Maryland football uniforms (which you can view live on TerpsTV by clicking here), so to tide you over, the Maryland athletics Facebook page posted this picture of the team's original uniforms in 1892. Here's the caption they used:
New Under Armour Football uniforms unveiled tonight at 7:30 pm! Check out the first Maryland Football uniforms in 1892. What do you think?
If you're curious what the masses think on Facebook, click over to that link. If you're curious what I think, here goes: I think they're awesome. I have no clue what the "C" stands for (maybe "Maryland Athletic Club"), but otherwise, this just reinforces my belief that college football teams should have a throwback game where they should wear really, really old jerseys and leather helmets. OK, maybe not the leather helmets

It's finally here. The new Maryland football uniforms, which have been teased for several months, will finally be unveiled on Monday night by the team and by Under Armour, who is manufacturing the jerseys. Fans interested in seeing the new look can check in live on TerpsTV at 7:30 p.m.
Maryland's new look has been rumored for a while, and it is expected to feature a number of quirks. Most notably, coach Randy Edsall has mandated that the jerseys not list the player names on the back. This is a radical departure for Maryland, who ironically was the first school to put player names on the back of their jerseys. Edsall is hoping to foster a culture where the program is bigger than any one person.
The event on Monday night is a fashion-show style event, with Edsall and many of the Terps' star players showing.

Randy Edsall's Take On New Maryland Football Uniforms: Black On Black Is Best
by Mike Prada
When the new Maryland football uniforms came out earlier this week, most Maryland fans agreed that the black jersey/black pants combination, modeled by linebacker Kenny Tate, was the best of all. As it turns out, those Maryland fans have been joined by another person close to the team who also loves the black/black combo: head coach Randy Edsall.
Here's what the Terps' coach said on "The Sports Junkies" on 106.7 The Fan on Thursday morning:
Coach @RandyEdsall says he won't be involved in what uniform combo's they wear... but his favorite is the all black!less than a minute ago via TweetDeck

Here's hoping we see the all-blacks at some point this season. Maybe against Miami?
