Maryland wide receiver Ronnie Tyler has certainly had his ups and downs this year on the field, but the low point of his season came as a result of an off the field incident that saw him suspended for two of Maryland's most crushing defeats. Tyler was out past curfew and allegedly assaulted a man outside of a 7-11 in College Park. According to Eric Prisbell of the Washington Post, Tyler thought that suspension might have signaled the end of his career at Maryland.
“When it first happened, I thought I was done,” Tyler said. “I was grateful that he gave me another opportunity. . . . “Every snap I take, every time I put on a jersey I am grateful, every bus ride to Byrd or any other stadium I am grateful just to be there again,” Tyler said.
Tyler hasn't been great when in action this year, but he is a senior and provides some leadership for a very young team. It is good to see that he seems genuinely remorseful of his actions and is trying to really soak in his remaining time as a Terp. He might drop a pass every now and again, but he seems like the kind of guy that is good for the team's morale.

Wide receivers Quintin McCree and Ronnie Tyler will be back in the lineup against Towson after missing the last two games while serving suspension, according to Jeff Barker of the Baltimore Sun.
"I told them, 'You're getting another opportunity. You're getting a second chance.' They will be back in the starting lineup this week," Edsall said.
It's interesting that Edsall said they will both be back in the starting lineup considering how well Kevin Dorsey has played so far this season. But I guess it wouldn't be fair to give McCree's job away while he doesn't have the chance to hold onto it. If Dorsey outplays him in the coming weeks, that may change though.
For how their return might affect the Terps offense, we go to our Maryland blog Testudo Times for their take.
A lot of people have guessed that perhaps Danny O'Brien's recent troubles have been the result of chemistry issues without McCree and Tyler in the lineup. I don't buy that, but their return has to help things - Tony Logan has potential, but McCree and Tyler were great against Miami and have been with O'Brien for much longer. Hopefully this will smooth some things out in the passing game, which should make the entire offense click a little smoother. I expect the top four WRs will now be Dorsey-McCree-Tyler-Logan, in some rough order.

Maryland was without their two starting wide receivers when they lost to the West Virginia Mountaineers. Ronnie Tyler and Quintin McCree were missing the game to begin a suspension that was only described as indefinitely. Now we know, via the Terps Insder twitter account, that the two will not play aginst Temple either.
The next series of tweets revolves around some of Edsall's thoughts on the two, and based on those, it doesn't sound like Edsall is in any hurry to put him back out on the field. He said that he was "disappointed" in them, which everyone knows is the worst thing you can here from a person that is constructing a punishment for you. He also says that he has a plan for the two receivers, but I expect that he might have the intention to make it public.

Ronnie Tyler and Quinton McCree have been suspended indefinitely from the Maryland football team following Tyler's reported assault of a man early Thursday morning. Thanks to Patrick Stevens of the Washington Times, we now have some more details on that altercation.
(University Police Spokesman Marc) Limansky said Tyler punched a 33-year-old non-student from New York after an argument escalated outside the 7-11 at the 4400 block of Knox Road in College Park. Tyler then saw a police officer and fled onto campus. He was arrested outside of Allegany Hall.
If you went to the University of Maryland, you are very familiar with that 7-11. It's right in the heart of College Park, a block away from where all the bars let out. This could be a pretty big blow for the Terps because Tyler and McCree are Maryland's two most experienced wide receivers. Behind them is Kevin Dorsey (who might be their best wideout) and a bunch of talented but inexperienced prospects.

As soon as Maryland football wide receivers Ronnie Tyler and Quintin McCree were suspended indefinitely by coach Randy Edsall, people were wondering what the "team rules" violation may have been. In Tyler's case, it appears the answer is a second-degree assault charge. Via Eric Prisbell of the Washington Post.
The Prince George’s County district court database indicates that Tyler was charged on Thursday with second-degree assault. His trial is scheduled for Nov. 1.
Here is a copy of that case record. A search through the district court database for McCree's name turned up empty. That could mean anything, but it is worth noting.
"The expectation of our program is for our student-athletes to conduct themselves in the proper manner academically, athletically and socially," Edsall said in the release. "Unfortunately, Quintin and Ronnie fell short of these expectations."
